Miami-Dade Mansion Sells for Record 47 Million US Dollars
South Florida luxury properties are hot and getting hotter. A Miami-Dade mansion recently sold for a record $47 million, and the gorgeous bayfront Indian Creek home marks the highest price that anyone has ever paid for a residence in Miami-Dade County history.
The home boasts 10 bedrooms, 14 baths and is nestled on a two-acre lot. The resort-style estate faces the sparkling turquoise waters of Biscayne Bay, and was constructed with luxury in mind. A series of pavilions connected by stone walkways and garden walls punctuate the landscape, and the home is truly a work of art. The estate is mostly comprised of glass, offering an abundance of natural light and framework that incorporates the natural beauty outside.
Other amenities include a 100-foot swimming pool and cabana, a rooftop sky bar and Jacuzzi, six wet bars, a glass-enclosed waterfront home gym, and a beach with pink sand that was imported from the Bahamas. Home owners can relax inside in the 3D theater or at the vertical garden and indoor reflecting pool. The home also features a recording studio.
Located inside the gated Village of Indian Creek, the buyers scored a great deal on the home that was originally priced at $60 million. It was given a price reduction to $52 million, but ultimately sold for even less than that. The buyer is reportedly from Russia, and paid all cash for the massive estate. The Village of Indian Creek is a high-security, 300-acre island that is home to 32 estates and a private, 18-hole golf course and country club. High profile neighbors include Norman Braman, a wealthy Miami auto dealer, and legendary Miami Dolphins coach Don Shula and his wife Mary Anne. Julio Iglesias is the owner of the most property on the island, including five total lots, four of which are side-by-side.
The home was listed and sold by the Jills power team, who are also the listing agents for Casa Casuarina on Miami Beach, the former mansion of Gianni Versace. Versace’s former home was recently put on the market for $125 million after being turned into a boutique hotel and restaurant. Two of the developer’s sons, Tal and Oren Alexander, assisted with the sale and represented the buyer. According to Oren Alexander, his father is planning another luxury property at Indian Creek and a second in Bal Harbour, however the prices will be in the $25 million range.
He adds, “One of the things we learned in marketing this property: Miami is a fourth, a fifth, a sixth home for many people, so they don’t want to pay so much. $25 million is kind of the sweet spot.”

What does a record sale tell you about the wider market?
Very little about ordinary housing, and quite a lot about the top of the market. Trophy sales reflect a small pool of buyers and unrepeatable properties; they do not set the price of a suburban house a few miles inland.
Does the Miami luxury market affect Palm Beach County?
Indirectly. Buyers do compare the two, and pressure at the top of the Miami market has historically pushed some demand north to Palm Beach and Boca Raton. The effect shows up in the highest price bands first, if at all.
