What a local would tell you
Palm City is a commuter market with golf and river frontage attached. The Martin County MPO's own community report notes that with access to both the Turnpike and I-95 it is often the first part of the county a visitor enters, and the mean travel time to work for residents is 31.8 minutes per Census Bureau 2020-2024 estimates. That is the practical trade buyers here make.
Because it is unincorporated, there is no city hall and no municipal millage: services and land-use decisions come from Martin County. That matters more than buyers expect, because Martin County's growth policy is deliberately restrictive compared with St. Lucie County next door, which is a large part of why the housing stock here is what it is.
The golf communities along Martin Downs Boulevard are the recognizable part of the market, alongside the river and canal-front streets closer to the South Fork.
Getting around
Palm City is bounded by Florida's Turnpike on the west and sits minutes from I-95, which is why it draws buyers who work in Martin County or northern Palm Beach County. Census Bureau 2020-2024 estimates put the mean commute at 31.8 minutes.
Taxes and assessments
Millage is set by Martin County rather than a city government, because Palm City is unincorporated; the Martin County Property Appraiser publishes the applicable district rates. Special-district and non-ad valorem assessments are billed on top of that and vary by community, so the only number worth relying on is the actual bill for the actual address. Buying here while selling somewhere else
Most people relocating to Palm City have a home to sell first, and the order you do it in decides your negotiating position on both ends. That is the part we are genuinely useful for. See the Palm City market report for the current figures, and what living here is actually like.
