Lantana is a beautiful historic town in Palm Beach County, Florida USA. The town has a vibrant municipal corporation with a police force, law and public works division. History

The history of this Florida fishing village is believed to have started back in the 18^th century with Captain Moris Benson Lyman as the founder. The name “Lantana” is derived from “Lantana Point”, meaning the concentration of Lantana trees on that point of land. Lantana Point is the place where Lantana trees grew in abundance and it is remembered because it’s where the first post office in the town was established in 1892. Two years later the first public school in the town was again established and another two years saw the construction of the town’s railway. Before then, boats were the main means of transport. By 1921, the then Lady Mayor, saw to the inception of the first municipal corporation in the town. Lantana’s first tabloid, The National Enquirer, was published and so it was that the town eventually developed into the beautiful spot we now behold. More than a century later and the house built by Captain Moris, founder of Lantana, is still beautifully maintained and has now been converted into a unique old style restaurant.

Lantana is located at 26⁰34^/58^//N, 80⁰03^/27^//W in Palm Beach County of Florida USA. The Census Bureau of USA records that the entirety Lantana covers a total area of 2.9 square miles (7.5km²); 6km² of which is dry land while the rest of the 21.3% is covered by water. The demographic studies reveal a total population of 10996. Of this, 4547 inhabitants are living on a square mile of land.
