History

Ocean Ridge town, also known as the small coastal community, was formally part of Boynton town and was founded in 1931. After some years, the town sprouted out when its natural endowments could not be concealed anymore. In 1931, a Major called Nathan S, surveyed and discovered that the community had tourist attractions and so there was a need to establish a tourist center. Thereafter, Nathan established Boynton Beach Hotel, one of the elegant hotels in the beach arena.

In 1920, Boynton town was originally inhabited. Due to certain disputes on property tax, Boynton’s tax gradually increased in debt. Twelve homes were created in Boynton town beach in 1931 and commissioned in 1937. They were called ‘special emergency meetings’ tasked with changing Boynton Beach’s name’. Later, Marion White Bird suggested that Boynton’s beach should be called Ocean Ridge, and the idea was formally accepted. After a series of meetings, Boynton’s beach changed to Ocean Ridge in 1939, and Boynton town changed to Boynton Beach following the new development.

Location

Ocean Ridge is a small community located at 26°31′30″N80°03′02″W. It covers an area of about 2.0 square miles. Land covers about 0.9 square miles while water covers about 1.1 square miles. It is a small coastal community situated along US Hwy A1A. Ocean Ridge is a townsite close to Briny Breezes, Boynton Beach, and South Palm Beach. It’s about 1.6 miles north of the neighboring city Briny Breezes, 1.3 miles east of another town called Boynton Beach and 4.3 miles south of another beautiful town known, as South Palm Beach. Ocean Ridge is located in the eastern part of the Atlantic Ocean.
